FALL INTO THE SEASON

Summer goes so quick in the Okanagan some years! This year we didn't get summer until after Canada Day, and then the heat of close to 40 degrees celcius for most of July!

August & September ended up being great months for my company and I'm looking forward to 2025 already!

1 - August Picture Update:

What a great August we had in Kelowna, and early September to end off Summer! Perfect weather, and the best time to experience the area! Fresh fruit, warm water, and the best wines!

Here's some of my favourite pictures from the last 6 weeks :)

2 - Salmon Run Waterfall Experience:

Hardy Falls is just outside Peachland and I was lucky enough to catch the annual Salmon Run this September.

If you’ve never seen the salmon run before, it’s a real treat! Kokanee turn a vibrant red colour when they are ready to lay and fertilize their eggs— they really match the fall scenery of the park.

You can follow the salmon along your walk, watch as they jump up the salmon ladders installed into the creek bed, and join them at the falls as they make their final journey there. If you watch long enough, you might see them jump by the waterfall!

During spawning, salmon return to the place they were born to lay their eggs. The female salmon dig a shallow hole in the gravel of the creek bed called a redd to lay their eggs. They are fertilized by the male salmon and buried beneath the gravel to protect the eggs over the winter.

If you are making the trip to see the salmon spawn, please be aware that the ecosystem is very fragile and, as pretty as they are, do not disturb the fish! During spawning, bears are also attracted to the area—something to be mindful of as well.

The salmon run can be seen from early September into early October, with peak times in mid-September.

3 - Kettle Valley Railway/Myra Canyon Trestles:

I love riding my bike on this epic trail not far from Kelowna! You can hike it, but rent a bike is my suggestion! Contact our friends at Lakeside Eco Sports for rental bike info.

This highly scenic portion of the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) runs along a steep-walled canyon. Originally built by hand at the turn of the last century, this impressive landmark is highlighted by 2 tunnels and 18 trestle bridges that are too spectacular for words. It is mostly flat, and easy.

Direction to Myra Station: Follow K.L.O. Road to McCulloch Road, which you follow past the pavement. About 2 km after the pavement ends on the right is the Myra Forest Service Road. Follow this road for 8 km to the parking lot. The first trestle is a few hundred metres away.

Take a trek on the trail with Google Street View here

4 - What's Up Andrew?:

Fall has sure come quick this year, I just wanted to chime in and give you some great autumn activities to do while here.

I am open until mid-December this year and looking forward to a great fall/winter season :)
